Bloomington - Dalan M. Childs, 11, after a courageous battle with brain cancer, passed away peacefully surrounded with love by his family at 8:29 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 in his home.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Larry Van Gundy officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, both at the memorial home.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
Dalan was born on September 18, 2005 in Bloomington, a son to Chelsea Childs and James Paris. Surviving are his parents; his Meemaw, Valeri Gustavson; sister, Angel Ferry; brother, Stefan Childs; uncle, Zachary Gustavson; aunt, Courtney Gustavson; great grandmother, Candace Gustavson, and great grandpa Robert Gustavson who was also his best buddy, all of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his uncle, Chris Gustavson.
Dalan was an excellent student at Irving Elementary School where he was a proud Mustang. He loved attending Tree House Bible Club at the Hub after school.
He loved his family dearly (including Chocolate and George), was a huge WWE fan and was also into Star Wars. Dalan also enjoyed writing, drawing and creating his own books.
Dalan was an intelligent, compassionate and generous little guy and he will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those who he has touched.
