Bloomington - Geneva "Mickey" Bennett, 74, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:54 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at her residence.
Her funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Noon on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. Frank L. McSwain, Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Cool Spring Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek, Mississippi. Memorials may made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
Mickey was born on August 19, 1941 in Franklin County, Mississippi, a daughter to Zach and Annie Lee Thomas Thomas. She married George "Charlie" Bennett. He preceded her in death on July 25, 1986.
Surviving are two daughters, Darlene Lynette (Tommy) Berry of Douglasville, GA and Laura Ann Thomas of Bloomington, IL; a son, William James (Robin) Thomas of Bloomington; 6 sisters, Minnie (T.J.) Walls of Bloomington, Gladys Richardson of Bloomington, Shirley Martin of McCall Creek, MS, Linda Martin of Lucien, MS, Gwendolyn Thomas of McCall Creek, MS and Barbara Ann Tyler of Brookhaven, MS; and two brothers, Willie Earl Thomas of Brookhaven, MS and Thomas C. Thomas McCall Creek, MS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bennett; a grandson; a sister and three brothers.
Mickey was employed as a laborer working on highway projects. She was previously employed at Head Start.
She was a member of the International Laborers Union #362 Bloomington. Mickey volunteered at the Salvation Army.
