Normal - Gladys M. Kemp, 78, of Normal, passed away at 2:50 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Heartland Manor Care in Normal.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Evangelical Free Church in Bloomington on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Rick Wagner officiating. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gladys was born on October 26, 1938 in Decatur, Illinois, a daughter to Joe and Virdie Mae Taylor Perkins.
Surviving are her children, Richard A. Kemp of Vancouver, British Columbia and Maria C. Kemp of Normal; one granddaughter, Devin A. Kemp of Bloomington and exhusband, Richard A. Kemp of Schenectady, NY.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six brothers and four sisters.
Gladys was employed as a data entry operator for many years.
She was an active member of Trinity Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Decatur, Illinois.
Gladys was a fierce prayer warrior, devoted to her family and loved gospel music. Her smile, spirit, strength and compassionate heart endeared her to many. Although her legacy lives on, she will be deeply missed and never forgotten by all those she touched.
