Theresa, or Merna as she was known by most of her friends, lived life to the fullest. I first met her soon after meeting Lorraine when I moved to Dallas in 1987. They were roommates and after Lorriane and I got serious, she moved out into a duplex close by. She ended up buying the property a couple years later. She loved the outdoors and the camping trips with the gang. She and Lorriane remained the best of friends even after we left Dallas for the Chicago area and ultimately to Huntersville, NC, near Charlotte. She and Jane visited us in IL and Merna visited again a year or so later which was always a great time for Lorriane. She also visited us a couple times in NC. She and Lorraine were the closest of friends and glow on their faces was evident when they were able to get back together. When Lorriane was in her final days, she said she wanted no visitors, but I let Merna know the situation, and she flew in a couple days later, which was great for Lorriane. She was a great gal and will be missed by all that knew her. RIP Theresa.

Theresa and I went to Epiphany grade school then Central Catholic together. She was everything described, kind, caring and happy. One of those rare quietly special people that make our lives better. Lucky us all to have known her. Joan Weaver Petersen

We feel blessed to have had a friend like Theresa Merna. We are lucky to have many good memories of her. Neither of us will forget our first trip to the farm. We went to the door and asked for Merna. The woman (Jane) that answered calmly said, "Which one?" We all just called her Merna in the dorm! Roger treasures his signed photo of the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders that she brought him. We send our deepest sympathy for your loss.
