After relocating to Bloomington, IL, Sarah became an active member at Center for Hope Ministries. Her love for people led her to serve as a volunteer within the outreach program, specifically helping in the food pantry. Sarah was also active within the women's ministry of this church.

Sarah was employed at numerous insurance companies from 1969 through the late 90's as a claims adjuster and clerical administrator.
