Virginia Craig Frye, 86 years of age, passed away peacefully at 2:45pm on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in the Comprehensive Care Center of OSF St Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.
Virginia was born on Saturday, September 8, 1934 in Belzoni, MS. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dread Frye Junior, father, Solomon Craig, mother, Ammie Beatrice Hemphill Craig and two step-mothers, Leola Blackman Craig and Fannie Cummings Craig.
She was a passionate woman who loved the Lord with all her heart. She confessed faith in Christ at a young age and was baptised at Nazareth MB Church, Tchula, MS. She spent her early childhood in Tchula before relocating to Chicago, IL in 1951 with her daughter, Aisha Hafi.
Virginia was employed as a waitress at Mary's Sweet Shop where the customers often called her Miss Mary because of her exemplary customer service skills. She remained employed at Mary's Sweet Shop until she secured employment with Illinois Bell Telephone Company in 1968 where she remained in various capacities until her retirement in 1988.
In 1955, Virginia met Dread Frye Junior who she loved immensely. On Saturday, November 7, 1987 the two were joined in holy matrimony. To this union one child was born, Andrea Renea.
In 1956, Virginia joined King David MB Church under the pastoral of Reverend Fred Hopson who was succeeded by the late Reverend Clarence Guyton.. She remained a faithful member of King David, serving on the Usher Board and in the Senior Choir until she moved to Bloomington, IL in 1998 where she united with the Loving MB Church under the pastoral of Reverend James Hines, succeeded by Reverend William Johnson and served in the choir and on the Mother Board until incapacitated by her health. Mother Frye loved the Loving MB Church congregation and never let an opportunity pass where she did not make this proclamation. Anyone that had the pleasure of making her acquaintance can attest to her not being short of words.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Aisha Hafi and Andrea Renea Moore (Lawrence), two grandsons, Jonathan Edward Moore and Daniel Craig Moore (Emily), two great-granddaughters, Desiree Rose Moore and Luna Joann Moore and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
