Adeline was born on September 22, 1924 in Staunton, Illinois, the daughter of Louis and Alvina Toenniges Mlekush. After graduating from Moline High School, Adeline worked for several years before enrolling at Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She understood the value of continuing her education and paid her own way through college.
After graduating from Augustana, Adeline began working as a teacher at Washington School in Jacksonville, Illinois. There, she met the love of her life, John Glenwright III. John and Adeline were married on May 5, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Moline, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1985.
Surviving is her beloved daughter, Sarah (Patrick) Rolfs and grandson, John Rolfs, of Bloomington; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and her "granddog," Carly.
Adeline was preceded in death by her parents and several beloved pets.
Adeline was a speech therapist at District 87 elementary schools for more than 30 years, and finished her career at Stevenson Elementary School. She had a heart for children and enjoyed helping them reach their full potential.
She enjoyed genealogy and spent many years working on multiple family histories. Adeline enjoyed creating floral arrangements for friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and gardening. Adeline passed on her love of flowers to her daughter, Sarah.
Adeline was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington, where she was active with Presbyterian Women. She loved her family and friends, and will be deeply missed.
When Christians say goodbye to loved ones who pass away, we are not really saying "Goodbye" but "See you later." Love you Mom, and we'll see you in heaven someday.
