Arvon Jacobssen

Bloomington - Arvon D. Jacobssen Jr., 93, of Bloomington passed away at 6:40 a.m. on Wednesday October 19, 2016 at his residence in Bloomington.
Cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Noon at First Christian Church in Bloomington. Vistiation will be held 10:30-12:00 prior to the memorial service at church. Full Military Rites will be accorded. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomingotn is assisting the family with arrangements.
Arvon was born January 8, 1923 in Bloomington, a son to Arvon D. and Leona Jacobssen, Sr.. He married Phyllis Head in 1951 in LeRoy, IL at First Christian Church. She proceeds him in death.
In addition to his wife, Arvon was proceeded in death by his parents and sister, Wanda.
He is survived by daughters, Paula (Darrell) Schapmire of Minier, Beth Underhill of Bloomington, and Mary (Tom) Griswold of Bloomington; grandchildren, Katrina (Brian) Clate of Arlington Heights, Jessica Underhill of Bloomington, Frank (Kelly) Schapmire of Bloomington, Jamie (Jason) Jones of Bloomington, Greta (Darrin) Janis of Minier, Carly (Gary) Savage of Bloomington, and Cole Griswold of Bloomington; and eight great-grandchildren.
Arvon served our country in the United States Army Air Corps.
He will be greatly missed by those he loved.
Memorials may be directed to OSF Hospice or First Christian Church or the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Decatur, IL.
