Betty J. Hummel

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Betty Jean Hummel, 94. She peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at The Loft Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Normal.

Born June 25, 1928, she grew up in Melvin but lived most of her life together with her husband, Jay Hummel, in Bloomington. Mother of Jan Uttley (Jim) of Winnipeg, Canada, and Larry Hummel. She has three grandchildren, Jodi Single (Andrew), Jinelle Kehler (Jeremy), and Jason Uttley (Paige). Seven great grandchildren: Alexander, Zachary, and Joshua Single, and Daniel, Jakob, Aleena, and Karsen Kehler. She was preceded in death by her brother, husband, and son. She also leaves behind her niece, nephew, grand-nephews, and grand-niece.

Betty was a kind loving friend. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

A private family burial will be held at Melvin Cemetery in Melvin, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation in her memory.
