Bloomington - Billy Gene Kletz, Sr., 70, of Bloomington passed away at 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
His Celebration of Life will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Kletzville for friends and family. Full Military Rites will be accorded by the Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Bill was born on September 29, 1946 in Bloomington, a son to George and Betty McMahan Kletz, Sr.
Surviving are his two sons, Billy Kletz, Jr. and Johnny Kletz from his marriage to Vicki (Cook) Kletz; three grandchildren, Jalee, David, and Jonathon Kletz; his mother, Betty Kletz; a sister, Brenda Wheeler; a brother, George (Carol) Kletz, Jr.; and his loving girlfriend, Lisa Klein.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Kletz, Sr., and a sister, Barb Beyer.
Bill graduated from Normal Community High School in 1965. In 1966, he was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 19 and honorably served two years.
He worked at Caterpillar and retired after 30 years.
Bill enjoyed fishing, racing, being outdoors, and coaching Black Knights and Normal Mites youth football teams.
He touched the lives and hearts of many people and will be deeply missed by all.
Memorials may be made in Bill's name to the Western Avenue Community Center in Bloomington.
