Bobbie Lee Johnson, 74, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 4, 2021 at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington, with Pastor U. D. Williams officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Monday.
Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association.
Bobbie was born on December 3, 1946 in Frenchmans Bayou, Arkansas, a daughter to James and Pearl Lee Wilford Johnson. She married James Banks in June of 1963 in Frenchmans Bayou, Arkansas. They later divorced.
Surviving are her children Georgia (J.W.) Taylor of Bloomington, Barbara Banks of Normal, James (Leah) Banks of Lake Stevens, WA, and Denise (Allen) Jones of Bloomington; grandchildren, Antwan Banks, Darius Banks, Cedric Haynes, Kenton Lei, Kanae Banks, Kaysa Banks, and Tyrese Atchison; great grandchildren, Ayanna Banks, Amari Banks, Lyric Banks, and Koda Banks; siblings, James H. (Daisy) Johnson of Springfield, Sylvester Johnson of Normal, John E. Johnson of Bloomington, Michael A. Johnson of Indianapolis, Indiana, Donald R. (Lisa) Johnson of Bloomington, and Kenneth D. (Carolyn) Johnson of Bloomington, Josephine (Francis) Sargent of Peoria, and Leatha P. (Jeffrey) Martin of Shelbyville, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Emma Edwards.
Bobbie was employed with State Farm for over 25 years, retiring in 1999. She was a longtime member at Union Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington, where she was a church secretary for many years. She enjoyed teaching Sunday School and singing in the Senior Choir at the church. Bobbie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be greatly missed.
