Byron was born on February 18, 1963 in Chicago, Illinois, a son to Leroy and Irene Gardner.
He grew up on the southside of Chicago, Illinois where he attended both Walter Reed Elementary and Englewood High School.
Byron started his employment career with his first job at the age of 19 in the state of California. He was gainfully employed for over 35 years and also worked at Heartland Healthcare for 11 years in Normal, Illinois until his demise.
He welcomed and married his wife of 33 years, Sharron Gardner on August 5, 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. Byron was a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, brother in-law and friend to all that he cherished in his life.
Byron later moved his family to Bloomington in October of 1996, where he began working for the healthcare industry.
He enjoyed life with his family, friends and neighbors, often hosting neighborhood barbeques and ‘keep the neighborhood clean parties'. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at the park, zoo, bike riding, walking, roller blading and attending their many school programs. Byron didn't play about two things, his money nor his family, that's when you would see his bad side. Byron received many acknowledgments and certificates for Outstanding Employee and always welcomed everyone with a listening ear, a smile and open arms. Byron enjoyed watching his television shows such as The First 48, Law and Order SVU, Law and Order, basketball, football and baseball, only if the Chicago Cubs were playing. He also enjoyed his weekend visits with his mother.
Heaven opened up and received Byron Gardner, Sr. On December 3, 2016 at 11:55 A.M. at BroMenn Advocate Center in Normal, Illinois, with much of his family by his side as he departed this earthly life and transitioned to his eternal home with Jesus Christ.
