Bloomington – Carolyn Lea Kramer, 78, of Bloomington, passed away at 4:11 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at her home.
Her family lost a beautiful beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Best Friend. Carolyn had three children, Kelly Baar, Ben J. Baar, and Terri Teutsch. She was a grandmother of six and a great-grandmother of eleven, who all lovingly called her by their nickname for her, “Monks.” She is also survived by her brother, Norman Grexton and his wife Cathy. Family and friends were important to her, she loved when they came over for dinner and visit. She enjoyed her outdoor hobbies such as gardening flowers and vegetables, which she would use to make the most delicious meals for her family. She enjoyed teaching her grandkids how to make spaghetti sauce and delicious jams and jellies.
Carolyn was retired from Casey’s Gas Station in LeRoy, Illinois, where she worked many years in customer service so she could be around people as she was always a people person who brought a smile to everyone’s face.
Carolyn’s wishes were to perish in her home. Her daughter, Kelly, and Kelly’s spouse, Ben Cottone were by her side. Kelly was her caregiver next to hospice. Carolyn battled many health issues, but she fought through them like a champ. She will not only be welcomed by God Himself, but she will be welcomed with open arms by her parents, Viola Wismer and James Grexton, three brothers, Bruce, Bob, and Jim, and most of all, her Yorkie dog, Bobby, who she has been missing terribly, as they will all now be together.
Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Carolyn at her Celebration of Life from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023 at her home in Bloomington (708 North Morris Avenue, Bloomington).
Her family wishes to extend a special thank you to all of the EMTS, the nursing staff from OSF St. Joseph Medical Center and Kindred Hospital, and the Bloomington Fire Department for all of their care, compassion, and help in taking good care of Carolyn.
Farewell Dear Mother
Somewhere in my heart beneath all my grief and pain,
Is a smile I still wear at the sound of your dear name.
The precious word is ‘MOTHER’, she was my world you see,
But now my heart is breaking cause she’s no longer here with me.
God chose her for His angel to watch me from above,
To guide me and advise me and know that I’m still loved.
The day she had to leave me when her life on earth was through,
God had better plans for her, for this, I surely knew.
When I think of her kind heart and all those loving years,
My memories surround me and I can’t hold back the tears.
She truly was my best friend, someone I could confide in,
She always had a tender touch and a warm and gentle grin.
I want to thank you Mother for teaching me so well,
And though the time has come that I must bid you this farewell.
I’ll remember all you’ve taught me and make you proud you’ll see.
Thank you my Dear Mother for all the love you showed me.
Although you’ve left this earth and now you’ve taken flight,
I know that you are here with me each morning, noon and night.
We Love You More Mom!
