Normal - Cheryl A. Myers, 53, of Normal, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at her home in Normal surrounded by her family.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at East White Oak Bible Church in Carlock with Pastors Walt Baertsch, Kendall Coffman and David Wolfe officiating. A visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church.
Cheryl's body was donated to the SIU School of Medicine in Carbondale to further the education of students in the medical field. She was born on September 17, 1965 in Sparland, the daughter of Kenneth and Joyce (Jury) Summitt. She married David Myers on Feb 14, 1987.
Cheryl will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 32 years, David, of Normal; one daughter, Kara (Ryan) Hanley of Indianapolis, IN; one son, Kevin Myers of West Chester, PA; two brothers, Kerry Summitt of CA and Robert Summitt of IL; three aunts, Marielle Akright, Beverly Meils and Melba Jury; lots of cousins that love and will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Cheryl was a member of East White Oak Bible Church where she enjoyed teaching the 5th and 6th grade girls Sunday school class with her fellow teachers, leading the AWANA Sparks in singing songs to help them know and love Jesus as much as she did. Cheryl attended Bible Study Fellowship where her love for the scriptures came to life.
When she and David first married, she was a hairdresser and later was a lunch lady at Grove Elementary School and later at Parkside Jr. High School. Cheryl served the students and loved on them with all her heart until Alzheimer's caused her to have to leave the job and the ladies of the kitchen, whom she loved spending every day with.
Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
