Normal - Dennis E. "Denny" Pritchard, 81, of Normal passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal. 

His memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Centennial Christian Church in Bloomington. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be left to Centennial Christian Church. 

Denny was born on September 14, 1942 in Galt, Iowa. He was the son of Allen C. and Nellie F. (White) Pritchard, who preceded him in death. Also preceded were twin brother, Danny, several siblings, and grandson, Zac Hoeft.  He is survived by his wife of 31 years, JoAnne Hoeft Pritchard of Normal; children, Tonja Fraser of Llano, Texas and Jason Pritchard of Roswell, Georgia; JoAnne's children, Shari (Mike) Reinle of Aurora, Illinois and R. Scott (Shawn) Hoeft of Bloomington; grandchildren, Leah Horn of Leander, Texas, Ben Horn of Austin, Texas, Megan Reinle of Goshen, Indiana, Molly (Travis) Freitag of Brookfield, Illinois, Rachel (David) Fulton of LeRoy, Jacob Hoeft of Aurora, Colorado, Abigail Hoeft of Bloomington; and great-grandchildren, Alexander, Caroline, Daisy, and Khloe.

Denny graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Iowa. He received his Associates Degree at Culver Stockton College in Canton, Missouri, his Bachelor's degree at Florida Southern College, and his Masters in Pastoral Studies at Lexington Theological Seminary in Lexington, Kentucky.

He served as a minister for 50 years serving congregations in Wever, Iowa; Dallas City, Illinois; Denver, Illinois; Lakeland, Florida; and Taylorsville, Kentucky. Locally, Denny served Carlock Christian Church and Church of Christ Uniting (Lexington) before his retirement from full-time ministry in 2007. In retirement, he served as an intentional interim minister for congregations in Charleston, Illinois and Bowling Green, Ohio. He also continued to serve his church through his involvement in the choir and mission trips. Denny then decided to reenter ministry full-time and served in Mt. Sterling, Illinois before retiring again where he served as an interim minister in Creve Coeur, Illinois. Throughout his career as a minister, Denny loved working with all of his church’s youth groups and taking them on youth mission trips. He also was actively involved in his church’s choirs and music programs, as he always had a lifelong appreciation for music.

Denny was a devoted member of Centennial Christian Church in Bloomington and also participated for several years in the Lexington Illinois Kiwanis Club. 

As a man of faith who loved to travel, he always considered his travels to the Holy Land as one of his travel adventure highlights. Denny took pride in his yard and enjoyed gardening, along with a good cup of coffee. Before his health declined, he was an avid golfer, enjoying playing several times a week.
