Heyworth - Dixie C. Martens, 74, of Heyworth passed away at 7:24 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 19, 2017 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Pastor Richard Gray officiating. There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
Dixie was born on October 7, 1942 in Bloomington, Illinois, a daughter to George and Jessie Tallon Bryan. She married Melvin W. Martens on July 22, 1961 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1973.
Surviving are her children, Clint (Judy) Martens of Heyworth, Curt (Mary) Martens of Shirley, Deb (Keith) Thompson of Heyworth and Jay Martens of Riverton; eleven grandchildren, Abby, Cade, Lydia, Grayson, Grant, Claire, Jennifer, Justin, Jacob, Samantha and KC; three great grandchildren; and brother, Joe Bryan of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Dan Bryan and Mick Bryan.
Dixie attended Ben Funk Grade School and Heyworth High School. She was a Unit 5 school bus driver for many years.
She enjoyed cooking, fishing, attending horse shows and crocheting.
Dixie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She will be truly missed.
