Bloomington - Dorothy Ilene (Heiser) Bruehl, 94, of Dayton, Tennessee, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 6:12 p.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at her residence in Dayton surrounded by family.

Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Grace Church in Normal with Pastor Kevin Heiser officiating. A visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 7, 2020 at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

A private family interment will be at East Bend Memorial Gardens in Fisher. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Church in Normal, Bryan College, or to CRU (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ).

Dorothy was born on September 3, 1925 in Fisher, a daughter to Sam J. and Tillie (Ingold) Heiser. She married John R. Bruehl on May 1, 1946 in Fisher. He preceded her in death on April 9, 1999.

Surviving are her sons and their wives, J. Roger and Maggie Bruehl of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Jeffrey R. and Darlene Bruehl of Dayton, Tennessee, and Alan D. and Susan Bruehl of Bloomington; and twelve grandchildren, Rebecca Cosper of Orlando, Florida, Jessica Wilson of Cape Coral, Florida, James Bruehl of Orlando, Florida, Amanda Bruehl of New Brunswick, New Jersey, Julia Taylor of Greenville, South Carolina, Angela O'Keefe of Spring City, Tennessee, Laura Bruehl of Dayton, Tennessee, Samuel Kirk of Soddy-Daisy, Tennessee, Jaree Kneller of Lebanon, Tennessee, Casey Bruehl of Glen Carbon, Emily Fischer of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Alex Bruehl of Bloomington; nineteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Melvin Heiser of Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters, Evelyn Springer and Lorene Builta, and brother, Lloyd Heiser.

Dorothy was a long-time member of the Christian Woman's Club, as well as Grace Church in Normal. After residing at Westminster Village in Bloomington from 2011-2014, where she enjoyed many friendships, old and new, she lived her remaining years with her son, Jeff and his wife Darlene in Dayton, Tennessee.
