Normal - Eva M. Knitter, 87, of Normal, passed away at her residence at 4:32 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Rev. Terry Strom officiating. Visitation for family and close friends will be one hour prior to the service on Friday at the memorial home.
Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Advocate BroMenn Hospice or ParkLands Foundation Normal.
Eva was born on March 5, 1929 in Normal, Illinois, a daughter of Lester and Iris L. Myers Bigger. She married Paul T. Knitter on September 16, 1950 in Hudson, Illinois. He preceded her in death on June 25, 2009.
Surviving are her children, Steve (Meredith) Knitter of Bloomington, Lisa Knitter of Bloomington, and daughter-in-law Marsha Knitter of Fort Wayne, IN; grandchildren, Tim (Anna) Knitter, Brian (Katie) Knitter, Michael (Lori) Knitter, all of Fort Wayne, IN, Jeff (Erin) Knitter, of St. Louis, MO and Lyndsey (Justin) Tipsord of Austin, TX; and eleven great grandchildren. Her surviving sisters are Patti (Harold) McKinney of Normal and Ferne Kilpatrick of El Paso.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Denny Knitter; two brothers and one sister.
Eva farmed with her husband for many years in the Carlock area. She later worked at General Telephone until her retirement in 1991.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, always loving and caring for her family. Eva enjoyed visiting with friends and talking with those she came in contact with. She loved flowers, and snapdragons and irises were her favorites. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
