George Joseph Patterson, Jr., 74, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:20 a.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at his residence.
His funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with Bishop Edward T. McGhee officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by Bloomington-Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to services at the memorial home.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be directed to the family.
George was born on August 30, 1944 in Bloomington, a son to George and Oleander Ross Patterson, Sr.
Surviving are his siblings, Minnie (James) Patterson-Farris of Normal, Daniel (Marilyn) Patterson of Bloomington and Willie Patterson of Bloomington; nieces and nephews, Sylvia Neal, James L. (Drue) Farris, Christine E. (Leon) Sims, Keith A. (Julie) Farris, Isaiah Farris, Nicholas Farris, Daniel LaTroy Patterson, Seneca Patterson, and Christopher Powell; 22 great nieces and nephews; 19 great great nieces and nephews; special friends, Wyatt and Bell Davis, and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ferdinand Patterson.
George proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. He worked for Eureka Williams for over 15 years and then Davis Cleaning for over 15 years, retiring in 2010.
He was a member of the Godfrey L. Miller Elks Lodge #1776 for over 45 years. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and loved bowling.
