Jack Austin

Jack Warren Austin, 84, of Chandler, Arizona passed away February 21, 2017.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sondra Gough Austin. Sons, Mark (Janice) Austin, Loves Park, Illinois, Michael (Julie)Austin, Novato, California, Robert Matthew (Patty) Austin, Roscoe, Illinois, Scott (Jona) Austin, Platteville, Wisconsin, Daughter, Susan (Terry) Fleck, Chandler, Arizona, sister Sherry Barrett, Sun City West, Arizona, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by son, Mitchell Austin. Attended college at N.W. Missouri State before joining the U.S. Air Force. Veteran of the Korean War. Employed by and a life time member of the IUOE Local 150 as a Backhoe Operator, a job he dearly loved. Resided 26 yrs in Rockton, Illinois before retiring to Arizona. He was a lifetime member, 2 time past commander and rifle squad member of the Rockton American Legion Post 332.
Active in many legion functions and events. Jack was also an avid golfer, played fast pitch softball, a diehard Bears fan and lived long enough to see his Cubbies win the World Series.

A grave side service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Rockton Township Cemetery, 1315 Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, Illinois. A luncheon and Celebration of Life will be at 11:30 a.m. at the Rockton American Legion Hall, 221 W. Main St., Rockton, Illinois. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Jack's name to: Hospice of The Valley, 2020 E. Woodside Ct., Gilbert, Arizona 85297-7339.
