James Howard

October 10, 1952 — December 4, 2017

James Thomas Howard III born October 10th 1952 in Alton, IL to James Howard Jr. and Dorothy (Johnson) Howard.

On Monday December 4th 2017 at 3:45am at his residence in Bloomington IL God peacefully called unto him and said "I've come to give you rest and no more pain".

James better known as Jimmy attended Alton High School in Alton, IL and later served in the United States Navy, he valued his title as a veteran of the US military and was proud to serve his country. Over his lifetime he worked in various capacities in the labor industry and in medical field.

He accepted Christ into his life at an early age and was baptized at Morning Star Baptist Church in Alton, IL. After relocated to Bloomington, IL he became a member of Mt Pisgah Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and was a praying man.

James had one son William [Sandra] Holloway who resides in St. Louis, MO.

He married Yvonne Jones in 1980. To this union one child was born Shavon Jenkins. He later married Martha (Jones) Howard and co-parented his five step daughters Sandra Jones, Patricia Harris, Drue Farris, Tosha Davis, and Robin Ross. Then married Samantha (Selburg) Howard late in life and co-parented one step-son Tony Cobb.

James was preceded in death by his Father, maternal grandparents Benjamin and Myrtle Johnson and paternal grandparents James and Ethal Howard. Three Aunts Mattie Martin, Josephine Bivens, Mary Jean [McCoullough] Ross and Five Uncles Leo Johnson, Nathaniel Johnson, Cleophus Johnson, Robert Howard, Charles McCoullough.

In addition to his wife, James leaves to cherish his memories his beautiful Mother, sister Diane (Howard) Robinson, brother Stanley Purnell Sr. both of Bloomington, IL. His children, his grandchildren Yeeshia, Lawrence, Keyaira, Latayia, Sidney, Devine, TC, Tayveon, great-grand Maliyah and a host of Aunts, nephews, cousins, and friends.

"Hound" as he was affectionately called by many, TRULY enjoyed living his life to the fullest. He enjoyed grilling BBQ, dancing, laughing and just being the life of the party.

Mr. Howard will be missed by all who knew him.
