James Isom

James H. Isom, 87, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Villa of Holly Brook, Bloomington.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

James was born on September 17, 1933 in Cadott, WI, a son to Eugene Willard and Lilly Marie Schroder Isom. He married Marjorie Gardiner on May 11, 1957 in Chippewa Falls, WI.

He is survived by his loving wife of sixty-three years, Marjorie Isom; daughter, Cynthia (James) Franke of Oceanside, CA; son, Timothy James (Darlene) Isom of Northfield, MN; grandchildren, Sondra Isom, Christopher Isom, Ryan (Elizabeth) Chandler, and Drew (Leslie) Chandler; great grandchildren, Liam, Logan, and Lincoln, and a sister, Janet (Tom) Mazur.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jeanne Hintz.

James was employed with GTE Verizon for thirty-five years, retiring in May 1993. He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was a member of Boy Scouts of America for seventy years and received a Silver Beaver Award. He was also a member at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Normal. He enjoyed being a Ham Radio Operator, and spending time with his family.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed.
