Bloomington - Janet K. Whitwood, 72, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:29 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Her memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Funks Grove Church, 7054 E. 535 North Rd, McLean, IL 61754 with Pastor Ernie Stone officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Cremation rites have been accorded. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Inurnment will follow services in Funks Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Janet was born on August 28, 1944 in Bloomington, a daughter to Wayne and Ethel Hohenstein Lucas.
She graduated from Bloomington High School and Illinois State University with a degree in education. She worked at the Clinique counter for many years at Bergner's and most recently at Von Maur. Janet was a self-described "lifelong Lutheran" and most enjoyed her time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Tim (Heidi) Larsen of Bloomington, Mark (Jeannie) Larsen of Lynwood, WA, Donald (Jamie) Whitwood of Heyworth; 10 grandchildren, Jordan, Raphael, Alivia, Anna, Isabella, Ethan, Kaleigh, Kamryn, Danielle and Victoria; sisters, Connie (Bob) Kocher of Canton, OH, Katie (Robin) Dexter of Bellingham, WA; and brother, David (Pam) Lucas of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, William Lucas.
