Normal - Jerry K. Schwartz, 76, of Normal, passed away at 8:19 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26, 2020 from 3:00 - 7:00 p.m. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2020, all at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Interment will be at Hudson Township Cemetery in Hudson.
Jerry was born on May 7, 1943 in Bloomington, a son of H. Wayne and Virginia Engel Schwartz. He married Brenda Williams on September 13, 1975 in Normal.
Surviving are his wife, Brenda; daughter, Andrea McBurney of Lexington; grandchildren, James Marty and Haddie Hoggins, both of Lexington; brother, Alan (Diane) Schwartz of Lewisville, Texas; nephews, Jeffrey (Amy) Schwartz and Ryan Schwartz, both of Flower Mound, Texas, and Ryan Miller of Bloomington; sister-in-law, Cricket (Steve) Miller of Hudson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jerry grew up in Carlock and was a 1961 graduate of Normal Community High School. He joined the Normal Fire Department in 1969, and served until his retirement in 1995. He was engineer of Engine 13. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Jerry cherished his many fire department brothers, as well as his daily coffee buddies at Times Past Inn.
Jerry enjoyed attending and supporting his grandchildren at their many sporting events. He enjoyed his old cars, traveling, wintering in Florida, and loved his family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Children's Rescue Run c/o Normal Fire Department Local 2442 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
