Springfield - Joan Marie Wiant, 89, of Springfield, formerly of Normal, passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Mill Creek Alzheimer's Special Care Center.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the memorial home.

Joan was born August 13, 1928 in Battle Creek, Michicagn, the daughter of James and Grace Kelso Goff. She married David Telfer Wiant on June 5, 1948 in East Lansing, Michigan. He preceded her in death in 2012.

She is survived by her children, Michael (Terri Treacy) Wiant of Petersburg, Christopher (Cindy) Wiant of Denver, CO, Susan (Michael) Crabb of Ann Arbor, MI, and Eric (Mary) Wiant of Springfield; grandchildren, Timothy (Sandi) Crabb, Michael (Marie) Crabb, Alexander (Shish Parsigian) Crabb, Jenn (Scott) Crawford, Nicholas (Meghan) Crabb, Jeff (Shawna) Wiant, Sarah (Darius) Ward, David (Maggie) Wiant, and Pepper (Craig) Morris; ten great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Margaret (Max) Bramble of Grand Junction, CO.

Joan attended Michigan State University for two years. In 1980, Joan and Martha Jump established M & J Sales, an estate sale business in Bloomington-Normal. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and volunteered at Advocate Bromenn Hospital.

She was an avid quilter, painter, stained glass artist, knitter, and seamstress. Joan also enjoyed bridge, bowling, golf, and Illinois State University athletic events. But most of all, Joan was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
