Joyce I. Bishop, 80, of Bloomington passed away at 10:18 a.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2018 at her residence.

Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Thomas Wirsing and Pastor Daniel Bishop officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and half an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the Dorcas Circle of Trinity Lutheran Church, The Lutheran Church Missouri Synod World Missions, or Gideons International. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joyce was born on April 11, 1938 in Alton, Illinois, a daughter to Irvin H. and Dorothy McGaughey Neunaber. She married Robert E. Bishop on June 14, 1958 in Bethalto, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 21, 2015.

Surviving are three sons, Timothy (Christine) Bishop of Algonquin, IL, Paul (Tami) Bishop of Edelstein, IL and Daniel (Deanna) Bishop of Marquette Heights, IL; one daughter, Katie (Alan) Williams of Bloomington; nine grandchildren, Heidi, Christl, Christian, Max, Kari, Anna, Samuel, Gretchen and Emma; and one brother, Bruce Neunaber of Hot Springs National Park, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant granddaughter, Erika and two brothers, Thomas and John.

Joyce graduated from Civic Memorial High School in Bethalto as the valedictorian of her class. She later earned a Bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University and graduated with her Master's Degree in Education from Illinois State University.

Joyce was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for 52 years in Children's Ministry, over 40 of which were in leading the Good News Gang Puppet Ministry. Joyce was also the Dorcas Circle Leader, and she donated materials for and made thousands of disaster relief kits and quilts for the poor and needy through Lutheran World Relief. Joyce was also the President of Ladies Aid of Trinity Lutheran Church, and was an active member of the German-American Society in Peoria.

She enjoyed sewing, cake decorating, and shopping, especially for Lutheran World Relief kit items.

Joyce's confirmation verse was John 15: 5 - "I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me, and I in him, it is he who will bear much fruit." Joyce remained in Him and bore fruit. She had a sacrificial love for God and her family, as well as an abundant, boundless generosity.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
