Bloomington - Juanita C. Hummer, 73, of Bloomington passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at Bloomington Bible Church in Bloomington with Pastor Dennis Powers officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in LeRoy. Memorials may be directed to CISAR (Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue) or Bloomington Bible Church or Home Sweet Home Mission.
Juanita was born on July 4, 1944 in Bloomington, a daughter to Walter and Bernice Myer Zimmerman. She married Laurence Hummer on December 18, 1963 in Carlock.
Surviving are two daughters, Lori (Roger) Mawhorter of Benton Twp, MI and Andrea (Pat) Allen of Normal; four granddaughters, Jessica (Miles) Bateman of El Paso, Ashley (Jonathan Garrels) Camper of Charleston, SC, Tiffany Mawhorter of Benton Twp, MI and Alexis Allen of Normal; three grandsons, Justin Hummer of Wapella, Terry Mawhorter of Ionia, MI and Jordan Allen of Normal; four great grandchildren, Madison, Pyper, Peyton and Carter; sister, Myra (Ray) Shirey of Flagstaff, AZ; two brothers, Ron Zimmerman of Harrodsburg, KY and Keith Zimmerman of Bloomington and sister-in-law, Dodie Zimmerman of German Town Hills.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James; granddaughter, Danielle; sister, Frances Bumgardner and three brothers, Wayne, Paul and Charles and her beloved dog, Miley.
Juanita was employed as an executive secretary at Holiday Inn, Inc. for 46 years, retiring in 2017.
She loved going to yard sales, reading books, Saturday breakfast at Shannon's with friends Liz and Marlene and Sunday rides with her grandpuppy, Cooper. Juanita volunteered with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children), taught generations of Sunday School children and directed the Christmas Program every year at Bloomington Bible Church. In 2011, Juanita received the Servant Leaders Award.
Juanita lived for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
