Judith Oakey

Bloomington - Judy's earthly adventure ended on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 5:10 p.m. at her residence where her earthen clay body crumbled, freeing her spirit to return home, to her creator, our Father.

Her Mass of Celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. Greg Nelson officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to mass at the church. She will be cremated and along with her husband John's remains will be buried with their daughter, Julie, in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL at a later date. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Faith In Action of Bloomington or St. Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomington.

Judy was born on August 1, 1941 in Perham, Minnesota, a daughter to Leonard F. and Irene Belka Boedigheimer. She married John Oakey on December 28, 1970 in Perham where the temperature was -28 below, a beautiful, sunny, crisp day!

She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey L. (Laura) Oakey of Montclair, VA, Jerome W. (Laura) Oakey of Bloomington, IL ,and Jon/JJ (Nora) Oakey of Alexandria, VA; brother, Paul Boedigheimer; sister, Mary Rose and aunt, Fern Boedigheimer, all of Minnesota; and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a special family, Jim and Kathy Blank of Kentucky and daughters, Sammy (Al) Trueblood of Indiana and Kelly Blank of Colorado. John and Judy were asked to be the girls' adopted grandparents when Kathy's last parent died and they "trained us" to be grandparents for Cole, Marti, Aidan, Jack, Vaughn, Graham and Trevor Oakey.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Julie; brother, Dennis; sister-in-law, Melanie; sister, Betty; and many aunts and uncles.
