June Essig

June Ruth Essig, formerly of Peoria and Normal, Illinois, passed away on November
15,2018, in Seattle Washington.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A funeral mass will be held in Seattle on November
30, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Church. A celebration of life and interment is planned for
a later date at Rosehill Cemetery, Chicago, Illinois. The family is being assisted by Barton
Family Funeral Home in Seattle and Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, Bloomington.
June was born on May 26, 1935 in New York. June graduated from Peoria High School,
Peoria, IL., in 1953. In 1954 June married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Essig. He
survives in Seattle. June is survived by her children, Michael and Kay Essig, Normal, IL., Patrick
and Julie Essig, Palm Springs, CA., Kevin Essig, New York City, Laurie Fitzpatrick, Boston,MA.,
Carrie and Dale Smith, Seattle, WA. Her grandchildren, Luci (Brock) Spencer, Bloomington, IL.,
Allison (Jake) Nord,Bloomington, IL., Zach (Anna) Essig, Josh (Emily) Essig, Palm Springs, CA.,
Jennifer (Nick) Curmi, Gilbert, AZ, Lia Fitzpatrick, Boston, MA., McKenna Smith, Seattle, WA.,
and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her her sister, Marilyn Carlson,
sister-in-law, Bonnie Dentino, and brother-in-law Donald Essig.
June was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Craig Essig, her granddaughter,
Kati Essig, her son-in-law Terry Fitzpatrick, her brother -in-laws Steve Dentino and Carl Carlson.
June was an accomplished artist who began her career in Peoria as a fashion
illustrator. Her work in oil, pencil and pastel painting were highly regarded and were sold
throughout the US. Later she became a graphic designer and art director for Flying Color
Graphics in Pontiac and Chicago, IL.
June and Ron raised their family in Normal and Naperville, IL and retired to Gulf Shores,
AL. In retirement, June cared for infants at First Baptist Day Care in Gulf Shores, AL. In 2010
they re-located to Seattle, WA.
June will be remembered for her incredible artistic talent, warmth, kindness and love for
life.
