Cooksville - Kathryn ‘Kathy' T. Kerber, 85, of Cooksville, passed away at 12:20 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Her Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna in Bloomington with Fr. Dustin Schultz officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday with Rosary at 4:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church on Friday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Merna. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna.
Kathy was born on December 23, 1932 in Bloomington Township, a daughter to J. Deane and Kathryn Weidinger Hinshaw. She married Gene E. Kerber on June 6, 1953 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on June 24, 2015.
Surviving is one daughter , Theresa Kerber of Bloomington; three sons, Dan (Mary Lou) Kerber of Arrowsmith, Steve (Mary) Kerber of Towanda and David (Geri) Kerber of Bloomington; grandchildren, Scott (Margie) Kerber, Aimee Kerber, Chris Kerber, Kelly Kerber, Nick (Kyla) Kerber, Ben Kerber and Emma Kerber; and four great grandchildren, Isabella Kerber, Daniel Kerber, Zachary Kerber and Caden Kerber; three brothers, C. Deane Hinshaw, Eldon (Jesse) Hinshaw and Lyle (Joyce) Hinshaw, all of Bloomington and one sister, Carol (Bill) Dietz of Bloomington.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
She was employed at Chicago Motor Club as a travel advisor and helped her husband Gene farm for many years.
Kathy enjoyed nature, especially flowers and birds. Her greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathy and her husband Gene enjoyed ballroom dancing with their many friends at various clubs (e.g. Tiara Ballroom, Moose, Eagles, and Elks).
She was an active member and volunteer at St. Patrick Catholic Church of Merna. Her apples pies were a favorite at funeral dinners.
Kathy was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was loved very much by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
