It is with heavy heart the family of Luella C. Belcher, of Bloomington, announces her passing.
Luella passed into her heavenly home at the age of 84, Monday, December 3, 2018 at 1:52 p.m. at the home of her son in Danvers, IL, with her family by her side.
A Christian celebration of life will be held at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington with the visitation taking place on Friday, December 7, 2018 from 5 pm-7 pm. Mrs. Belcher's funeral will be on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at 1:30 pm at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home, with her grandson, Nicholas Bair officiating. Burial will follow at Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean, IL. Family requests casual attire.
Mrs. Belcher was born on December 28, 1933 in Weldon, IL, on her family farm, the daughter of Loral K. and Louise (Walker) Ford. On March 26, 1954 she married the love of her life, William M. Belcher in Bloomington, IL. The late William preceded her in death on September 12, 1997. Also preceding her in death were her parents, two sons, William K. Belcher and Noah C. Belcher, and two daughters in-law, Melissa (Leggett) Belcher and Debra (Combs) Belcher.
Those left to cherish her memories are her beloved children; Rebecca (Jeff) Bair of Hudson, IL, Pamela Hicks of Bloomington, IL, Edward (Jill) Belcher of Danvers, IL, Esta (Michelle) Belcher of Normal, IL, and daughter in-law, Cathy Belcher of Bloomington, IL.
The lights of her life, carrying on her memories and traditions are 20 grandchildren, Dusty (Larry) Miller, Wendy (Steve) West, Melissa (Tracy) Melton, Monica (Eric) Stengel, Megan (Luke) Mohr, Matt Belcher, Analiesa (Steve) Smith, Vanessa (Sean) Elder, Nicholas (Senja) Bair, Becky Hicks-Hutchison, Jessica Mercer, Samantha Belcher, Amanda (Brett) Hilt, Rachel (Craig) Passini, Jake Belcher (Tammy Bradley), Brandon (Crystal) Ulrich, Chad Ulrich (Sherri Stewart), Abby Radford (Jason Escalante), Ashley Holzhauer, and Lexi Nagel-Belcher, 38 great grandchildren, Dustin, Anthony, Jesse and Olivia Miller, Ian West, Gavin and Emily Melton, Noah, Sarah, Logan and Shelby Stengel, Jillian and Morgan Mohr, Abby and Adam Engle, Khaleesi Elder, Ethan, Isabella and Hannah Smith, Lauren, Silas, Riley, Wesley, Titus, Gideon, Katelyn, Ben and Miriam Bair, Lane and Lia Hutchison, Keely Hilt, Xander and Aubree Luella Mae Belcher, Stefan Childs, Jayce Holzhauer, Andrew and Amelia Ulrich, and Nixon Escalante; 2 great great grandchildren, Carter and Achilles Viruet.
Luella was a graduate of Bloomington High School in 1951. She began her career in life working at the Coat Factory in Bloomington, IL. She and her husband owned and operated Belcher Enterprises, which included AAA Ambulance and Hospital Supplies & Livery Services from 1968-1986. Along with her husband, Luella was founder and owner of AAA Ambulance in Colfax, IL, which later became Eastern McLean County Ambulance Association. Mrs. Belcher was the first female Emergency Medical Technician in McLean County, IL. Later in her career she worked in food services at Bloomington High School as well as at East Bay Camp at Lake Bloomington.
Mrs. Belcher was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout Leader, former member of the Eastern Star Group and former board member of Lincoln Grade School. Through her faith and belief in God, Luella was a member, board member, Elder and Sunday school teacher at Four-Square Gospel Church in Bloomington.
Luella's other enjoyments in life were rooting on her Green Bay Packers, having coffee shop time with her friends and most importantly spending time with her kids and grandbabies.
The family would like to thank Dr. Patrick Murphy, OSF Hospitalist, Dr. Garcia, OSF Home Care Nurse Nicole, OSF Ministry Staff Rosemary and Joyce and OSF Hospice Nurse Jerold and the whole Hospice Organization.
