Saybrook - Lyle W. Anderson, of Shreveport, LA, formerly of Saybrook, IL, died at 7:20 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Life Care Hospital in Shreveport, LA.

A graveside service for Lyle will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Evergreen Cemetery in Lawndale Township Rural Colfax with full military honors performed by the Bloomington-Normal Honor Guard. Lyle's birth home was one mile from where he will be buried. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church in Shreveport, LA. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with services.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to The General Joseph Bartholomew Chapter of the SAR Scholarship Fund c/o J. Gordon Bidner, 5150 E 2050 N Carlock, IL 61725.

Lyle was born on July, 12, 1932, in Lawndale Township Rural Colfax, a son to George William and Gladys Beatrice Fincham Anderson. He married Maggie Lee Adams on August 6, 1956. She proceeded him in death on March 22, 1973.

Surviving is his sister, Avis M. Amann of Kingman, Arizona; brother, William (Norita) T. Anderson of Leesburg, Florida; three nephews, Bill Duvall and Jon Duvall both of Arkansas and Jeff Anderson of Illinois; and one niece, Jennifer Anderson of Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife and an infant daughter.

Lyle attended rural schools in McLean County, graduating from Saybrook High School in 1950. In 1951, he enlisted in the Air Force where he worked in the Strategic Air Force, serving at many bases around the world. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Lyle retired from the Air Force in 1971.

For the last 46 years, he has lived and worked in Shreveport, LA, where he has worked with Mr. Abbott in his repair shop. He later worked with Mr. Abbott's daughter, Maylon and Betty Humphries, and they became a second family to Lyle.

He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Shreveport, LA.

Lyle was known for his sense of humor and loving nature.
