Normal - Mabel P. Crouch, 88, of Normal, passed away at 1:47 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
Her funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 22, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church in Normal with Rev. Matthew Wilcox officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to American Passion Play, P.O. Box 3354, Bloomington, IL 61702 or First Presbyterian Church, 2000 E. College Ave, Normal, IL 61761.
Mabel was born on June 20, 1929 in Stanford, Illinois, a daughter to Charlie and Cleo Hulvey Allen. She married C. Walden ‘Wally' Crouch on October 15, 1949 at First Presbyterian Church in Normal.
Surviving is her husband, C. Walden ‘Wally' Crouch of Normal; children, Cinda ‘Cyn' Clawson and Becky Ayers, both of Normal and Steve (Charlotte) Crouch of Rockford.; seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; twin brothers, Red and Ted Charles; sister, Minnie Hurst and son in law, Clayton Ayers.
Mabel was employed at Velvet Freeze in Normal and later, State Farm Insurance Co. and lastly at Normal Community High School in the cafeteria. Her most important job was being a loving wife and caring for her children.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Normal, a lifetime member of Eastern Star, Home Extension and the Camping Club of Bloomington Consistory. She was a active participant of the Passion Play, and in charge of wardrobe. She was also a den mother for Cubs Scouts.
Mabel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be deeply missed. She enjoyed camping with her husband and their friends from the Bloomington Consistory and traveled extensively with her husband.
