Margaret ‘Margie' Mary Abbott, 80, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Liberty Village in Le Roy, Illinois.

Her Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m. at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.

Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to American Diabetes Association or Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Margie was born on November 21, 1937 in Bloomington, Illinois, a daughter to Thomas Alexander and Esther Belle Laird Freed. She married William T. Abbott on May 23, 1959.

Surviving is her loving husband of 59 years, William Abbott of Bloomington; two daughters, Cynthia (James) Curtis and Cam (Richard) Romani both of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Brett Bandel of Chicago, Dawn Bandel of Bloomington, Jacob Romani of Bloomington and Juliana Romani of Bloomington; two great grandchildren, Harmony Bandel and Donald Walker both of Bloomington; sisters in-law, Shirley Shepherd of Bloomington and Linda (Mike) Flick of Ohio; brother in-law, Jerry Abbott of California; and many nieces and nephews she adored, a long with her first cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; one brother and one great granddaughter.

Margie was a graduate of University High School Class of 1955. She worked at several local banks before starting her career with the Bloomington-Normal Transit Authority where she worked for 25 years.

She loved to dance and play golf, bowl, play Euchre with her Monday night group and enjoyed all music. Margie and her husband enjoyed their many golf outings together as members of Crestwicke Country Club for over 25 years as well as at their home in Estero, Florida. She was a wonderful baker who always made a cake for every occasion. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal and Green Bay Packers fan.

A special thank you to all of Margie's caregivers, especially ICU of OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Liberty Village of Le Roy and all of her doctors, nurses and support staff.

Margie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved attending and supporting her grandchildren at their many sporting events and other activities. She was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
