Margaret Ann Giermann of Bloomington, 86, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Thomas Wirsing officiating. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Special Ed Sunday School Class, Trinity Lutheran School, or the donors choice.
Margaret was born on August 8, 1932 in Gibson City, the middle daughter of Joe and Lillie Hansen Gandy. She married Carl J. Giermann, Jr. April 4, 1954 in Gibson City. He preceded her in death on November 23, 2001.
Margaret is survived by her children, Diane Giermann, Normal, Wayne (Michelle) Giermann, Bloomington, Dale Sr. (Tana) Giermann, Weston, MO, and Karen (Tom) Aughenbaugh, Clinton; grandchildren, Andrew (Samantha), Christopher (Jennifer), Susan, Dale Jr. (Megan) and Lacy Giermann, Sara (Joe) Tressler, Gregory, Ethan, Cari, and Cami Aughenbaugh, Ricky and Marisa Zamudio; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Thackerson, Mackenzie, Torrie, Amira, Kharizma, Kylie Giermann, Xavier Marchell, Stratton Cole, Ari Giermann, and Scarlett Tressler; brother Bill (Linda) Gandy, Sibley, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Douglas.
Margaret was in the last class to graduate Drummer Township High School (now GCMS) in 1950. She attended Brown's Business school. She was employed by State Farm until 1955. Later she worked as a cook at Trinity Lutheran School.
She enjoyed helping with the Special Education Sunday School Class, she was a member of the PTL, Room Mothers, Bethel Bible Study, Ladies Aid, LWML, 50-plus group, and Happy Faces Widows group. Margaret is known for her sense of humor, canning from the garden, and caregiver to her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at McLean County Nursing home for the care given to our mother, as well as the residents for the companionship.
