Marilyn J. Evans, 84, of Normal, passed away at 10:57 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Chuck Bahn officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. Cremation rites will be accorded. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Inurnment will be held at a later date at Secor Cemetery in Secor. In memory of Marilyn, memorials may be directed to her family.

Marilyn was born January 25, 1934 in El Paso, Illinois, a daughter to Andrew and Mildred Eft Cackling. She married Howard L. Reed in 1957, he preceded her in death in September of 1958. She later married Garland Dean Evans on June 9, 1979 in Louisiana, MO, he preceded her in death on January 10, 1999.

She is survived by daughters, Nancy (Phil) Fleming and Paula (Michael Collier) Evans, both of Bloomington; step-sons, Morris (Donna) Evans of Decatur and Dana Evans of Farmer City; 8 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and her sister, Pauline Ballard of Sarasota, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, brother, Richard Cackling, and granddaughter, Alexis Collier.

Marilyn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She taught at Trinity Lutheran School for 21 years, retiring in 1980. Later, she worked at TA Truck Stop in Bloomington for over 12 years.

Marilyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister and will be greatly missed.
