Martha Dillman

Bloomington- Martha E. Dillman, 95, of Bloomington passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Her visitation will be from 4-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington. Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Oskaloosa Cemetery in Clay County, IL.
Memorials may be made to Smile Train or a scholarship fund that will be established at SIUC in her honor.
Martha was born on May 27, 1921 in Marion, IL to John and Anna (Perry) McClanahan. She married Dr. Wilbur L. Dillman in July of 1960. He preceded her in death on August 14, 2003 in Bloomington. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are her children Jeannie Adams of Normal, IL, Marla Dillman and her husband Mike Sheets of Craig, Alaska; three grandchildren, Sierra Adams and her husband Ben Soon of Anchorage, AK, Cheyenne Adams of Bangor, ME and Wyeth Sheets of Craig, AK; and nephew Jerry (Kathy) McClanahan of Chicago, IL.
Martha graduated from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a Bachelor's degree in education and a Master's degree in Counseling. She was active in the Girl Scouts as a scout leader and she taught adult GED classes at Bloomington Public Library for many years.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Bloomington. Martha was also instrumental in getting the recycling program started in Bloomington. Martha had lifelong passion for reading and learning and never passed up an opportunity to correct one's grammar.
