Mary James
Beloved Mary Catherine James ascended to Heaven and was embraced by Our Holy Savior on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at 4:30 p.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Mary Catherine was born in Guys, Tennessee, moved thereafter to Corinth, Mississippi and then to Bloomington, Illinois in 1966.
She is survived by her husband, Dorsey James, Bloomington; five children, Cynthia James, Bloomington, Crystal James, Peoria, Roderick James (Vicki), Bloomington, Kymberly James-Luna (Tomas), Los Angeles, CA and Melissa James-Shrader (Darin), Normal; one granddaughter, Dorian Sunshine Luna, Los Angeles, CA; brother, Clemmie Luster, Jr., Atlanta, GA, and sister, Brenda G. Kirkwood, Normal. She also leaves to mourn, countless nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Viola and Clemmie Luster, Sr.; sister, Mary Ann Thomas; brothers, Kinnie Luster, Ernest Luster; nephew, Joseph "Joey" Cannon; brother-in law, Theoda Kirkwood, and great-nephew Trevonte' Kirkwood.
Home-going services will take place with visitation held on Friday, July 26, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm, and Saturday, July 27, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at Noon. Entombment will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington, followed by a repast at the church. All services will be held at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 509 West Jackson Street, Bloomington, with Rev. U. D. Williams officiating. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
We loved "Cathy" more than life itself. We were so blessed to have had her in our lives as long as God permitted. She was truly adored and known for her grace, elegance, kindness, and joy. Her light shone brightly and enveloped everyone she knew. She loved God with all her heart and faced challenges with her faith. She is missed immensely.
