Mary Lois Kauffman, 92, of Normal, passed away at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2020, at home surrounded by family.
A private service will be held at a later date, followed by a Celebration of Life on April 18 at her daughter's house in rural Stanford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Advocate BroMenn Hospice.
Mary was born Aug. 11, 1927, to Lawrence and Imelda Gunn Walsh in Bloomington. She married Jean J. Kauffman Oct. 4, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington.
She is survived by her husband; four children, Steve Kauffman of Meridian, Idaho; Tom (Donna) Kauffman of Meridian, Idaho; Sue Kauffman of Bloomington; and Melanie (Jerry) Evelsizer of Stanford; two sisters, Joan Briman of Topeka, Kan.; and Ann Knapp of Normal; sister-in-law, JoAnn Walsh of Hudson; grandchildren, Zach Kauffman, Kait Kauffman, Ryan (Theresa Dunas) Kauffman, Michael (Eva) Kauffman, Brian Hall, Blake (Tiffany) Hall, Aaron (Alex) Wede, Julia (Jose) Perez, Tom (Lisa Tackett) Evelsizer, and Ashleigh (Kyle) Rinkenberger; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Walsh and Francis Walsh; one sister, Margaret Veselak; and one infant son.
Mary graduated from Holy Trinity High School in 1946 and was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. She had a career in banking.
Mary enjoyed golf, antiques, gardening and spending time on the porch with loved ones. She was adored by her family and will be deeply missed.
