Mildred Ferguson

Mildred Ferguson born Mildred Ellen Thompson passed away in her residence in Trinity, FL on April 11^th,2023 at 94 years of age. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her husband Harold Ferguson and her daughter Gail Ferguson. She is survived by her daughter Marcia Ferguson, her son-in-law Tom Kapp and granddaughter Elisa Kapp.

Mildred was born on June 15^th, 1928 in Normal, Illinois to Altha and Mark Thompson. Mildred lived her early life on the family farm with her parents and her siblings; Don, Helen, Mary and David.

She spent her college years at ISU and was a member of the sorority Sigma Ki. She kept in touch with her sorority sisters throughout her life. She was active in the sorority and enjoyed the yearly secret sister events they had.

She married her husband Harold Ferguson in a ceremony at Normal First United Methodist Church. They had a happy loving marriage until his passing in 2020. Family meant a lot to Mildred; besides her husband and two children she had many nieces and nephews she adored.

Both Mildred and Harold loved their family home that was located on a quiet corner on Maplewood Drive. They raised their children there and created many wonderful memories. Later in life they retired to Florida to be with family and enjoy the warmer weather. Mildred left a lasting impact on her family and the lives she touched through teaching. She will be dearly missed.
