Downs - Norita Fern Olsson, 72, of Downs, passed away at 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Regional Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2019 at Kibler Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Interment will be at 4:45 p.m. on Sunday in Hudson Cemetery in Hudson. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
Norita was born in Bloomington on June 29, 1947, a daughter to William Norwood and Mabel Ruth (Prahm) Flener. She graduated from Normal Community High School in 1965. She married Orbie Olsson on June 29, 1994 at their home in Downs.
Norita enjoyed traveling in the RV with her husband and was an avid Country music fan. She loved seeing her favorite performers, especially Gene Watson, in concert. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. One of her favorite activities was keeping in touch with her Facebook friends and loved searching for collectibles and antiques. She worked several jobs but her favorite was Wonderlin Galleries. She was also a member of the American Hungarian Family Society Ladies Auxiliary and served as secretary for many years.
Surviving are her husband, Orbie Olsson of Downs; son, Gregg C. (Aimee) Petri of Golden, CO; sisters, Sheila Elkins of Shorewood and Leila Cornelius of Bloomington; brother, Harry "Ike" (Lorain) Andres of Hudson; step-daughter, Tricia Olsson of Bloomington; step-son, Tony (Ana) Olsson of Mesquite, NM; sister-in-law, Donna Andres of Bloomington; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; one step-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her former husband, Nicholas Petri Jr., with whom she raised their son.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, William Prahm Andres, and brother-in-law, Erwin Cornelius.
