Patricia Wright

Patricia A. Wright, was born in Chicago on Friday, June 12, 1942, the 2nd child of the late Harold Greene Nelson and Velma Louise Goldston Nelson. Patricia was baptized at the Greater Metropolitan Baptist Church of Chicago. She was a graduate of Betsy Ross Elementary School and of Englewood High School. A lifelong Chicago resident, her early years were spent living with her family at 59th & Michigan, and later, at 66th & Maryland. Many of the youthful friendships she made while living in these neighborhoods continued throughout her life.

Patricia was truly a “people person.” Wherever she went, she knew someone, and if she found a place where she knew no one, by the time she left, someone would know her. She was fun-loving and lived life to the fullest, she was the life of many a party. Her brother and sister were her pride and joy, and she loved to “big sister” them. Patricia enjoyed listening to “dusties,” and like to play cards. She loved entertaining family and friends and loved to cook. Her favorite saying was, “Deal!”, and when you asked her how she was feeling, she’d say, “With my hands!”

In her later years, the company of her sister and grandchildren brought her much joy.

Patricia passed away on March 16, 2022. She leaves behind many cherished family members and friends to mourn her, including her children, Petra Kirkendoll (deceased), Hilton (Rashanda Dean-Wright) Wright, Jr. and James (Shay Young) P. Young; grandkids, Meosha T. (Nathan) Brown, Jullian Wright, Jordan M. Wright, Lakai Ann Young, and Shalayne Dean; great-grandkid, Nathan, Azviea, Mahari, Mary-Patrcica, Keevon, Lakeith, Jordan, Jordan, Javius, and Jaden; sister, Debbie Kay Nelson Laura, and brother, Charles Henry (Patricia Ryan Nelson) Nelson of Evanston, Illinois; many nieces/nephews, cousins and friends.
