Normal- Paula M.E. Hafner, 71, of Normal, IL was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on April 4, 2018 in Siesta Key, Florida.
Paula was born December 28, 1946 in Toronto, Canada, daughter of Paul B.H. and Margaret (Dunn) Smith. She married Fred Hafner on August 30,1969 in Peoria, IL.
Paula is survived by her husband and their twin sons, F.J. of Bloomington, Patrick (Heather) of the Dominican Republic, and daughter Rachel who preceded her in death. Paula leaves behind eight grandchildren, Maya, Tyre, Haleigh, Keewan, Hannah, Alejandra, Hayes, and Declan and three great-grandchildren, Marquan, Ja'Quan, and Elijah. She is also survived by one sister, Anne Carignan, of Peoria and a daughter in-law, Tracy Hafner.
Paula earned her Master's of Arts Degree in Elementary Education, she was a teacher, later started her own business, then she continued her work at State Farm Insurance, retiring from there after twenty years. Paula began volunteering at a variety of local schools, serving those in need, and showering love upon her friends and family.
In July 2013, Paula was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. She battled this disease with faith, hope, strength, and dignity. Even though we saw the advancing frailty, we always saw a warm smile that showed she would not let this condition rob her of the joy of life.
Paula's strong faith in Christ was her guide throughout her journey.
