Normal - Pauline Hanner, 100, of Normal, passed away at 7:35 p.m. on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Apostolic Christian Home in Eureka, Illinois.
Her funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Rev. Chad Lueck officiating. Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church on Friday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Pauline was born on December 17, 1915 in Atlanta, Illinois, a daughter to Homer H. and Hazel Colaw Kelly. She married Paul Hanner on December 25, 1936 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1988.
Surviving are her three sons, Jerry (Linda) Hanner of Papillon, NE, Pete (Sharon) Hanner of Eureka, Bob (Patricia) Hanner of Normal and a daughter, Martha Prescher of Bloomington; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers; two sisters and son in law, Tom.
Pauline was employed as a secretary at GTE and retired after 22 years of service. She later worked for Bank One for over 14 years. She was also employed at State Farm Insurance Co. working nights during World War II.
She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where she served on the Altar Guild, Bloomington-Normal Charter Chapter American Business Women's Association, Charter member of Redbird chapter of ABWA and BroMenn Service Auxiliary. Pauline volunteered at the Red Cross while her children were growing up. She was selected ‘Woman of the Year' by Redbird Chapter ABWA in 1977.
Pauline was an avid quilter, making many quilts for her family.
She was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
