Philip Meginnes

Towanda - Philip J. Meginnes, 55, of Towanda, passed away at 3:45 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at his residence.
His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bloomington with Pastor Peter Weeks officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. on Friday at Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington.
Interment will be in Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be directed to the family or a charity of the donor's choice.
Philip was born on August 8, 1963 in Chicago, to his loving adoptive parents, Herman J. and Beverly K. Bielfeldt Meginnes. Philip married Rita A. Mills on March 2, 2019, his best friend and the love of his life for over 20 years.
Surviving is his wife, Rita Meginnes of Towanda; children, Jason Boswell, Ashleigh (Michael) Barnes, Alyssa (Kyle) Meginnes and Mary Katelyn Meginnes; six grandchildren; mother, Beverly Meginnes; sister, Kay L. (Denny) Schneider; and longtime friend, Chris Hartnell all of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Philip was a mechanic since the age of 14 years old; he could fix anything with an engine. He was employed most recently at Hartnell Automotive in Normal until January 2019 when he was diagnosed with cancer. He was a lifelong member and baptized and confirmed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church.
