Richard Koch

Richard P. Koch, 80, of Bloomington passed away at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at his residence.
His Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington with Fr. Eric Bolek officiating and Fr. Jeffrey Stirniman concelebrating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until the start of mass at the church.
Inurnment will be in Funks Grove Cemetery in McLean. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Illinois Cancer Care Foundation. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Richard was born on October 14, 1938 in Evergreen Park, Illinois, a son to Leo and Helen Castles Koch. He married Judith Peterson on July 26, 1958 in Chicago.
Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Judy Koch, together they raised 9 children, Kraig (Judy) Koch, Denise Koch, Scott (Lena) Koch, Todd (Stacy) Koch, Brad Koch, Joel (Lisa) Koch, Diardra (Doug) Gascon, Una (Tim) Arkins and Nuala (Randy) Williams, who blessed them with 18 grandchildren, Aaron (Janelle) Dossey, Brianne (Sam) Alkire, Natassia Koch, Klayton (Therese) Koch, Evan Dossey, Jarrod Koch, Kelsey Koch, Joshua Koch, Jacob (Elizabeth) Koch, Lauren Koch, Kayley Koch, Anna Ehrlich, Khloe Koch, Hans Ehrlich II, Katie Koch, Kenzie Koch, Eamon Arkins, James Carden; and, 11 great-grandchildren, Cade Sneed, Ella Alkire, Lucille Alkire, Isaiah Alkire,Giannah Koch, Kameron Koch, Makenzi Koch, Owen Koch, Eli Koch, Kelson Koch and Elsey Koch; and one sister, Gail (August) Gelhaus of Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola Cisek and Joan Londos and one brother, Leo Koch.
Richard moved to Bloomington with wife Judy and began working for Stewart-Warner Alemite Division in sales where he worked for 25 years. Richard worked at the former Eddie's Market and Krogers as a meat cutter in Bloomington. He later worked for Sud's as a shuttle driver as well as Enterprise Rent-A-Car.
Richard was a master gardener. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. He served in the Bloomington-Normal Cursillo and TEC communities. He was a true patriot and enjoyed traveling and photography.
The family would like to thank OSF Hospice for the excellent care they gave to Richard, in particular, Amanda and Jerold. A special thanks to Dr. Kumar and staff at Illinois Cancer Center.
Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He will be dearly missed by all.
