Bloomington – Richard F. “Dick” Sleevar, 74, of Bloomington passed away at 4:38 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023 at his home. He passed away into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by family.
His funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Historic St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father Jeff Stirniman officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Bloomington immediately following the Mass.
In memory of Dick’s pride in his grandchildren’s musical talent, memorial contributions may be made to the Bloomington Public School’s Band Foundation in their honor (1202 East Locust Street, Bloomington, Illinois 61701).
Dick was born on July 6, 1949 in Bloomington, a son to Anthony J. and Irene (Blair) Sleevar. He married Mary Zorn on August 2, 1969 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. He was an accountant for many years in the Bloomington-Normal area. Dick had a passion for fishing and a talent for always catching the big ones. He most enjoyed time spent with family and supporting his grandchildren’s many interests. He will be missed more than we can say.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Sleevar of Bloomington; children, Tim (Michelle) Sleevar, Erik (Lisa) Sleevar, and Karen (Thadd) Roesch, all of Bloomington; grandchildren, Savvy Sleevar, Nick Sleevar, and Presley Sleevar; brother, Chuck (Paula) Sleevar of Le Roy; sisters, Laura Underhile of Dixon and Angie Milewski of Bloomington. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony “Joe,” and his sister Mary.
