Robert Bishop

Bloomington - Robert Bishop, 89, of Bloomington passed away at 11:03 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at OSF Richard Owens Hospice House in Peoria.

Services will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post #56. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Robert was born on March 25, 1928 in Effingham, Illinois, a son to George and Ethel Meeks Bishop.

Surviving are his children, Barbra (Matthew) Oldenburg, Robert (Terry) Bishop, Danny Bishop and Brad (Terri) Bahan; sister, Ruth Brady and many grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven Bishop; two brothers and six sisters.

Robert proudly served in the United States Navy from April 1946-February 1948. Later, he was a self employed contractor.

He enjoyed playing cards and pool with family and friends. His favorite place to be was outdoors where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

The family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors that took such great care of Robert at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington and OSF Richard Owens Hospice House in Peoria.
