Robert E. Waddell, Sr.

Mr. Robert Eugene Waddell, Sr., of Bloomington, IL was born on May 8, 1937, in Bloomington, Illinois to the late Louise and Arthur Waddell.

Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. He is a graduate of Bloomington public schools. He was a dedicated and very devoted family man. For this hardworking patriarch of the family, following his grandparent’s legacy was an easy task. He worked multiple jobs at one time and did not lack in any way. He was a very sharp dressing man with a hat to top off his attire. He loved sports at large, and was a Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Bears fan.

He married the love of his life, Barbara Jean (Hosea) Waddell, she survives, and to that union had 5 children; Claude Edward (preceded in death), Karen (Wesley), Brian (preceded in death), Barbara Lynn (Andre), and Robert, Jr., (Trini). Grandchildren, Keesha, Brittney, Tanika (Mike), Sasha, Tamira (preceded in death), Taylor, Tiffany (Marcus), Makayla, Candace (Glenn), Constance, and Tiyanna, and 13 great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Robert grew up in love with his brothers, Jack, Harlan (preceded in death), Arthur (preceded in death)- (Georgia), and 2 sisters, Marilyn, and Dorothy (preceded in death) and, sisters-in-law, Anna (Donald) (preceded in death), and Mary (Bobby) (preceded in death) Bobby was his best friend of many years. He was also preceded in death by his late brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Lawrence (Josephine) Hosea, William (Margaret) Hosea and Johnny (Mollie) Hosea.   

On Sunday, September 25, 2022, it was the Lord’s call and his answer when he transitioned from this earthly life to be with his parents, siblings, and kids in eternal life.

His funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington.
