Rufus Newbill, 65, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2021 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
Rufus was born March 13, 1955 in Ferriday, Louisiana; the son of Genevia Campbell and Booker Barber. He married his beloved wife Rosetta Newbill on October 3, 2003 in Bloomington.
He is survived by his wife Rosetta Newbill, two sons; Rufus Dionte' Newbill of Williamsport, Maryland and DiAaron Jonte' Newbill of Harker Heights, Texas, as well as two step-children; Shanta Emanuel of St. Louis, Missouri, and Tobias Howard of Atlanta, Georgia; 11 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Siblings; one sister Elouise Newbill of Bloomington, six brothers; Larry (Ceola) Campbell, Lester Newbill, Darron Newbill all of Bloomington, Henry & Lincoln Newbill of Ferrida, LA., and Larnell Campbell of New Orleans, LA., nieces Nicole Weber, and Gayle Jordan, and nephews; Donell, Marquise, and Ryan Campbell, and Randy Newbill. As well as a host of family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Genevia Campbell and Booker Barber, brother, Adell Campbell, step-daughter, Veronica Howard, and great-grandson, Quenton Howard.
Rufus Newbill was a life loving man who lived every day to the fullest. He enjoyed a broad spectrum of activities: from faithfully going to the gym, and fishing to spending time with his two-favorite people (his wife Rosetta and great grandson Mecah Howard), Rufus made sure to bask in every moment that presented. He gave his life to the Lord at Union Missionary Baptist Church in March of 1976. Rufus was currently a member at Mt Pisgah Baptist Church.
After putting in over 28 years of hard work, he retired from Bridgestone Firestone in April of 2016. During retirement, Rufus enjoyed Sunday dinners with family, morning walks with his wife, and lending a helping hand to anyone who may have needed one. Mastering the craft of gardening, Rufus enjoyed delivering fresh produce to many friends and family in his community. The generosity of his heart and warmth of his love will be forever missed.
